Binding thesis

Where can I upload my thesis file?

You can attach the file directly from the product tab, along with the other thesis personalization fields.
If you prefer to be supported by us during the purchase, you can come to our store or you can send us the file via Whatsapp. We will guide you step-by-step to complete the order.

 

What file types are allowed?

To avoid pagination problems, both the paper file and the title page file must necessarily be in PDF format.
 

Do I have to attach both the thesis and the title page?

No, if you have already included the title page on the first page of your thesis, it is not necessary to reattach it separately.
 

Will my title page be printed only on the cover or also internally?

For aesthetic choice, we print the title page both on the external cover and on the first paper page of the thesis.
If that’s not what you want, feel free to let us know in the “order notes” field on the check-out page.
If we do not receive any communication about it, we will print the title page both on the cover and inside the paper document.

 

Do files have a maximum size?

You can upload files up to a maximum weight of 30MB (this is a considerable size that will allow you not to have problems during upload). In case of difficulty, write to us at vanessa@youni.life and we will help you.

If you want to speed up loading times, we recommend compressing your thesis before uploading (the best free online tool to compress .pdf files is ilovepdf).
 

I wrote a thesis longer than 140 pages. Can I still bind it?

Our covers can contain a maximum of 140 sheets.

If your thesis exceeds this threshold, we will only be able to print it in double-sided mode. Furthermore, we will apply a surcharge from the 141st page onwards. The surcharge is €0.10 for each page printed in black and white and €0.50 for each page printed in color.

Will my thesis be printed in color?

Yes, your thesis will be printed entirely in color and the price will remain unchanged regardless of the number of color pages present in the paper.
There are exceptions for which we formulate personalized quotes.

 

Are there exceptions to your all-inclusive pricing method?

As you could read on the thesis printing service page, the price remains unchanged regardless of the number of pages and the printing color of the paper.

However, to guarantee the economic sustainability of our work, there are exceptions for which we formulate personalized quotes:

  • if your thesis exceeds 140 pages, we will only be able to print it in double-sided mode and we will apply a surcharge from the 141st page onwards. The surcharge is €0.10 for each page printed in black and white and €0.50 for each page printed in color;
  • the all-inclusive pricing formula is not contemplated if your thesis contains images and/or color characters replicated on every page of the paper recurrently and for aesthetic reasons only. By way of example and not exhaustive, this is the case of applying a color image (for example the University logo) in the page header of each sheet of the document or numbering the pages in color instead of black and white.

In these cases, before accepting the order, we will contact you to agree on an alternative solution.

 

I would like to purchase two theses with different colors and/or covers? Can I do it?

Certainly! Once you have added the first thesis to your cart, simply press the green “Continue shopping” button to exit the cart and return to the shop. From there you can customize your second thesis with other colors and cover models.

 

Do you also perform pagination services?

No, but before printing your thesis we will check that you have not made pagination errors regarding the printing mode you have chosen and we will provide you with advice on how to best paginate it.

For example, if you have chosen single-sided printing mode, we recommend positioning the page number at the bottom right and inserting at least 0.5cm more in the left margin.

If instead you have chosen double-sided printing mode, we recommend positioning the page number in the center and using the same cm in the right and left margins. Remember also to position on odd pages all the contents you want printed on the front of the sheet.

 

If I find an error in my file, can I modify the file even if I have already completed the order?

Contact us as soon as possible to avoid printing your thesis with the wrong file.
You can send us the new correct file by email to vanessa@youni.life.
If we have already printed or bound the paper, you will have to make a new purchase.

 

What is the difference between the more economical Nürma life model and the high quality Dandy and Fashion life models?

The Nürma life line theses are similar to those you can find in other copy shops in Genoa:

  • the cover is smooth with a slight veined effect and is available in 4 colors (red, blue, burgundy, green)
  • the sheets have a grammage of 80 grams
  • the endpaper is white and not parchment-like

The Dandy and Fashion life line theses are made with higher quality materials and contain small details that make them more refined:

  • the Dandy model cover is rough to the touch and is available in 4 colors (red, blue, black, green)
  • the Fashion model cover is smooth and soft to the touch and is available in more than 10 colors. Furthermore, the gold or silver writings have an engraved effect.
  • the sheets have a grammage of 100 grams
  • we apply headbands along the spine. Headbands are small cotton ribbons that will give greater prestige to the degree thesis.
  • finally, we replace the classic white endpaper with a precious parchment paper. The color can be chosen from white, beige, light blue, green, gray or pink. Alternatively, you can always opt for the classic white endpaper.

 

What is the endpaper of a thesis?

The endpapers are the sheets found at the beginning and end of a volume, the first ones you see when opening the cover.

Usually simple white sheets are used (and this is what we also do for the endpapers of the Nürma life line theses). For the Dandy and Fashion life line theses we have instead chosen to use parchment sheets, available in 6 colors: white, gray, light blue, sand, green and pink. It’s up to you to choose the combination of the endpaper color with the cover. If you need suggestions, contact us at vanessa@youni.life 🙂
 

What are headbands?

Headbands are small cotton ribbons placed at the ends of the spine. They will give greater prestige to the degree thesis. They are white and green and we only use them for the Dandy and Fashion Life line theses.
 

Are the writings on the cover engraved?

First, it is appropriate to make a premise. The engraved effect depends on three factors:

  • the characteristics and quality of the cover leather
  • the quality of the machine and the heat applied to the print head
  • the size of the logos and characters of the title page (the larger they are, the greater the engraved effect)

At YouniLife we have put ourselves in a position to be able to obtain an engraved effect on the covers. In fact:

  • we use a latest generation hot printer that allows us to engrave the covers. Furthermore, you will not run the risk of the writings being erased over time.
  • our leathers are high quality and thermovariable (i.e. they undergo a mutation in shape and color if pressed and heated by a hot head).

If you want to obtain an engraved effect, we recommend choosing our Fashion model. The soft leather allows us to obtain logos and writings with an engraved effect. We also recommend using large characters and a thick/heavy font to accentuate the engraved effect.

 

What color can I make the writings on the cover?

We can make the writings with a glossy gold or silver effect.
For a stylistic choice, we do not use opaque colors or shades different from gold and silver.
 

What type of binding do you perform?

We use a milled perfect binding process. Unlike the binding used by most copy shops, this type of binding allows you to create volumes that are more resistant over time and easier to browse.

In Genoa we are one of the few binderies to bind theses with a milled perfect binding process 😉

Yes, each location we have selected is able to offer a menu for vegans or vegetarians. In this case it is necessary to inform us in advance so that we can organize ourselves as best as possible.

Can I bring a cake? Can you prepare it for me?

Each location we have selected is can prepare a dessert or a cake fpr you. In any case, it is possible to bring a cake purchased elsewhere, just remember to bring the receipt and the list of ingredients with you.

Can I also request a photo shoot both before and during the graduation reception?

Yes! We work with professional photographers who can capture every moment of your party: from the day of the proclamation to the graduation party. Write to us in advance at vanessa@youni.life in order to organize ourselves as best as possible.
 

Are you also offer a DJ set service?

Yes, each location we have selected has speakers and audio systems available that you can use on the day of your graduation party.

Yes, each location we have selected has rooms that can be reserved for small and large groups.
 

Is it possible to organize a party outside the opening hours of the location?

Yes, our selected locations are available to open specifically for you. Others have detached rooms available specifically designed for private parties with many guests.
 

Are there parking lots close to the location?

There are parkings near each location. Each location is easily reachable even by public transport.
 

Are the locations accessible to disabled people?

Yes, each location is equipped with compliant entrances and accessible to all.
 
 

Payments and reservations

How much notice will I have to book?

The earlier you book, the better!
Graduations take place over a few weeks and we often receive requests for the same day and time. Our advice is to book as soon as you have confirmation of the date and time of the discussion. Fortunately we have 15 locations available with numerous places both indoors and outdoors.
 

Will I pay in advance or on the day of the graduation party?

Unfortunately we have had cancellations happen when we had already organized everything: from the buffet to the preparation of the tables. For this reason we prefer ask for a deposit. This policy will allow us to work and organize ourselves as best we can 🙂 It will always be possible to “put things right” if the number of people increases or decreases.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay by debit card, credit card or by bank transfer.
 

May I request a tax invoice?

Of course, it will be sufficient to inform us when confirming the booking. We will take care of attaching a copy of the invoice together with the commercial receipt.

Will the laurel wreath be the perfect size for me?

Absolutely yes! You won’t run the risk of buying an unwearable product 😉
During the purchase, we ask you to indicate an approximate size commensurate with your head circumference. For more information on how to measure the circumference, we recommend you read the guide we have prepared to help you.
 

Can you give me some advice on how to store the wreath before and after my graduation day?

We advise you to leave the wreath in a dark, cool place until the day of the discussion. Ideally, it should be stored in the refrigerator or cellar.
 

Are the leaves and flowers you use real? Will they remain beautiful even for my graduation day?

Our laurel wreaths are made with fresh products, purchased from the supplier the day before the wreath is prepared.
For the best result, we advise you to indicate the day before your graduation discussion as the delivery date and to follow our instructions on correct wreath storage.
 

Are the catalog photos faithful to reality?

Absolutely yes: the wreaths photographed were made by our florists and the photos were taken by a professional photographer.
Since these are fresh products and the hand of our florists is different from one another, expect some small differences in the size of the leaf, flower, and the aesthetic rendering of the wreath.
 

Can you create a laurel wreath composition not displayed in the catalog?

Certainly. In this case, we advise you to contact us by email at vanessa@youni.life; we will be at your disposal to create a personalized laurel wreath.
 

Payments

What payment methods do you accept?

In case of in-store pickup, you can pay in cash or by debit, prepaid, or Postepay card.
In case of home delivery or pickup points, you can pay by card when the order is taken over.
In case of difficulty, write to us at vanessa@youni.life and we will help you.
 

I have a discount code. Where should I enter it?

The discount code must be entered on the cart page, in the box below the summary of your order. Remember that, once entered, you will need to validate the discount code by clicking on the “apply coupon” button.
 
 

Deliveries and Shipments

Where can I pick up my order?

You can choose delivery in-store, at an affiliated pickup point near the Universities of Genoa, or at home.

Our store is located in Via San Martino 17E R, 5 minutes from the faculties of Medicine, Engineering, and Natural Sciences.
The pickup points are the Tatabox study room in Via Fieschi 69R or the Mentelocale bar bistrot inside Genoa Principe railway station.

In case of in-store pickup or at pickup points, you can choose delivery in 24 hours or in 3 working days.
In case of home delivery, shipping usually takes 24 hours but in some cases, it may take 48/72 hours.

 

What are your shipping times?

You can choose delivery in 24 hours or in 3 working days.

  • We guarantee delivery by the next day only for orders completed by noon.
  • If you placed an order after 12:00 PM and chose delivery in 3 working days, the count of days starts from the next day.
  • In the case of home delivery, shipping usually takes 24 hours but in some cases, it may take 48/72 hours.
  • In the case of laurel wreaths, we require at least 72 hours’ notice.

Examples with 24-hour delivery mode:
– if you requested 24-hour delivery in-store or at a pickup point and placed the order by 12:00 PM on Thursday, you can pick up the package on Friday, starting from 5:00 PM;
– if you requested 24-hour delivery in-store or at a pickup point and placed the order on Friday, Saturday, or by 12:00 PM on Sunday, you can pick up the package on Monday, starting from 5:00 PM;
– if you requested home delivery and placed the order on Thursday by 12:00 PM, it will be delivered on Friday, Monday, or at the latest Tuesday;
– if you requested home delivery and placed the order after 12:00 PM on Friday or on the weekend, it will be delivered on Tuesday or at the latest Wednesday.

Examples with 3-working-day shipping mode for in-store or pickup points:
– if you placed the order on Monday, by 12:00 PM, you can pick up the package on Thursday, starting from 5:00 PM;
– if you placed the order on Monday, after 12:00 PM, you can pick up the package on Friday, starting from 5:00 PM;

 

What does 24-hour delivery mean?

By 24-hour delivery, we mean delivery on the next working day.
Therefore, if you place an order at 9 AM, for example, it could be delivered to you even in the afternoon of the next working day.
In any case, we guarantee delivery by the next working day only for orders completed by noon.
In the case of home delivery, shipping usually takes 24 hours but in some cases, it may take 48/72 hours.
 

I put two theses in the cart and the home delivery costs were duplicated. Why?

Shipping costs apply to the total and are not duplicated for each thesis model you add to the cart.
It is likely that you selected “home delivery” twice in the “shipping location” selector. To avoid duplication of shipping costs, enter the value “same as already added to cart” in the “shipping location” selector for the second thesis you want to add to the cart.
 

Do you deliver on weekends and holidays?

No, we only deliver on working days. Please keep this in mind when choosing delivery times.
 

Is there a risk that my order will be damaged during shipping?

Your order will be packed and shipped in a rigid box. Depending on the type of product you have ordered, precautions will be taken to ensure delivery in perfect condition.
Should your order arrive damaged, you can request a new product to be sent at no cost to you.
 

Do you deliver throughout Italy?

Yes! For shipments to Sicily and Sardinia, contact us at vanessa@youni.life, and we will provide you with a personalized quote.

Returns and Refunds

Can I exercise the right of withdrawal?

The degree theses and laurel wreaths are personalized and/or perishable goods for which the right of withdrawal cannot be exercised, as regulated by art. 59 of the Consumer Code.
The graduation cap is not considered a perishable or personalized good, therefore, if you have changed your mind or are not satisfied with the purchase, you have 14 days to exercise the right of withdrawal. The cap must be returned to us as new, and the transport costs for the return will be at your expense.

 

In which cases can I request a refund?

Our basic policy is that if the product you purchased has an error caused by us (for example, by way of example and not exhaustive, if it was damaged during transport or if the customizations are different from what you asked for), we will remake it at our expense.
Therefore, if you notice something inaccurate in your order, do not fear: contact us at vanessa@youni.life, we will find a solution 😉

In any case, consider that the purchase of a product made partially or entirely by hand must be a conscious purchase. It means choosing items made with manual/artisanal techniques and not with industrial methods, and consequently purchasing a product that configures itself as a unicum.

Therefore, you might receive products that may visually contain discrepancies such as: different color shades, irregularities in shapes, etc.
